Why Are We Doing This?
Support Pinnacle High School
The Boots & Heels Committee is sponsoring this event whose proceeds cover the costs for all the programs and events that enhance the quality of life for the students, teachers, and parents at Pinnacle High School. Project Grad is our largest expense. We also provide scholarships to our seniors, special programs for all students, sponsor staff appreciation, offer club support, as well as provide insurance and tax preparation for Pinnacle's parent sub-clubs for school organizations, sports teams, and extracurricular activities.
Project Grad
The event collects funds for an all night party for the Senior Class of 2009 of Pinnacle High School. Last year's party was a huge success --attended by 95% of the graduating class. After 4 years together through the trials and tribulations of high school, this graduation night party is perhaps the last time this class will be gathered as a whole. The next time this group will potentially assemble will be at their reunion - 20 years from now. The Grad Night Party keeps seniors safe. It allows them to celebrate this momentous occasion in a fun, but controlled, setting. Drinking and driving is a leading cause of high school student mortality - 11 teens are killed and over 350 are injured in alcohol related auto accidents each day. Your participation in this event helps our student body avoid being part of those statistics.
Scholarships
The event collects funds for senior scholarships. These are not based on need nor merit, but school spirit and model citizenship. For students who feel they are a POP "Star" at PHS, they complete a scholarship application and write a two-page essay describing the attribute that most makes them a top "citizen" of our community. Their way of shining may be their: ability to mentor/help those around them; kindness; enthusiasm for student life; artistic/musical ability; academic prowess; and/or athleticism. Our committee scores the applications on the writer's ability to appropriately respond to the prompt, write a clear concise essay, and by the content. The writers are anonymous to the committee. To date, all of the essays have been inspiring and uplifting, and committee members have been honored to be able to participate in this process. Last year 20 $500 scholarships were awarded to deserving students.
Teacher Appreciation
A small portion of the money raised by this event goes towards teacher appreciation items that express gratitude to the faculty and staff on behalf of the parents and students.
Bidding on Auction Items is Key
Ticket prices have been set to cover the cost of renting the facility and paying for the food you will enjoy. In short, the tickets are a break-even proposition. Money to help keep the seniors safe is collected based on the live auction and the silent auction. So have some fun and bid. You won't regret it - and neither will any senior.
Project Grad - a night of safe, alcohol-free, drug-free fun
The party starts on the night of graduation and continues until the next morning. The party is a monitored, closed event. Once students exit, they cannot return. Prizes are awarded throughout the night. The activities and prizes keep the students engaged throughout the event.
